What Does It Cost To Recover From A Mental Episode?
In accordance with a Griffith University Study, 50% of clients experience reliable improvement after 8 sessions of counselling. Another 35% of clients require on average 21 sessions and the remaining 15% even longer, if they achieve any improvement at all.
As a rule of thumb, recovery takes about twice the number of sessions, say 15-40 sessions. (Australian Psychological Society. Clinicial Psychologist, Volume 14, Issue 2 July 2010, pages 39-44)
This equates to a cost of approx. $4-10,000 for a recovery.
Cost For A Single Day In Hospital
According to the MHSA (Mental Health Services Australia) the cost for treating adults in specialist mental hospitals in 2014-15 was above $1,000 per day and for children & adolescents almost $2,000 per day. Costs for treating people at home were on average $400 per day.
What Does It Cost To Recover From Eating Disorder?
Eating disorders often require 90 to 180 days of inpatient care, which will cost about $90-180,000. The costs for outpatient care, which includes medical monitoring and continuing therapy, may add another $100,000 over a period of 18-24 months. (PsychGuides.com, 2017)

Please make your impact count by giving regular monthly donations. Why? Mental disorders cannot be solved in one treatment. It is an ongoing process and we cannot and will not let a person down after just one treatment. Would you?

On average we require approx. $500-1,000/person/month but we can pool donations. However, if you are able to fund the entire treatment process of a person, then we will connect you to them and (if authorised) keep you updated about their progress. Become a hero, save some-one’s life single-handedly!

Give Generously
If you are making a one-off donation, please give generously. We use single donations to collect funding for retreats, where a sufferer will receive a comprehensive and complete treatment support package uninterrupted for several weeks. These retreats are very effective, but not cheap!
